Planning on starting a forum providing website... will vps work?

Hello,
I have plans on starting a new project of the provision of free forums (either phpbb or invision). However, since I'm going to begin totally fresh, I thought I should stick to something less costly and then gradually shift to ded, etc when the website is commencing to more registrations.
So, I have kind of decided to purchase the 'value' vps package from myriadnetwork.com. But, do you think they will be fine with it? I mean, is there a chance of me getting kicked out because of the using of several databases? Or starting off with a VPS package is actually good for me?

I think a vps will be ideal for you with what you are starting. The good thing about it is as your site grows, you can upgrade the vps to the next higher package without hardly blinking an eye. Go with it and no one will kick you off for using to many databases as it is like your own dedicated server and it will only effect your performance. Good luck!

Yeah, that's absolutely suitable solution for you. You could be kicked off _shared_ hosting, but not the VPS - you're the king here, launch whatever you want. Just keep an eye on it and upgrade when you start filling up.

P.S. If you're going to provide multiple forum installs, remember that invBB is not free anymore.

VPS is just fine for hosting a forum. It does not matter how you use the the VPS.

gamer1888 be really careful on the provider you choose and the size of vps you choose, they are not all the same and they are not all suitable for your needs. Check the benchmarks which I think you'll find somewhere here on webhostingtalk.

If a provider has tuned down the resources but left mem/cpu up you'll find you run out of things like mysql connections. A VPS can however handle what you want if it has the correct settings.
