Question

VPS on godaddy.com - mail services, nameservers etc...

Hello.

I signed up for a VPS on godaddy.com and have some question if somebody have a VPS account with godaddy.com: I post this thread on domains and VPS forum since I have question about both subjects.

1. What nameservers can I use on my domains I want to host on my VPS account? I have several domains (on godaddy, hostdepartment and namecheap ) and some of the domains I want to host on my VPS. But I don't find any nameservers I can use on my domains so they work on my VPS.
I have no trouble seting up the client and domain on my VPS, only the nameservers so the www.mydomain.com points to the account on my VPS.
Godaddy says this on the mail: Use tickets system, and they don't reply, so i don't now what to do.

2. Private nameservers

Can anybody tell me how to setup private nameservers on my VPS and how to manage them? I have to extra IP adress on my VPS, so thats no problem. But how do I set up private nameservers? (ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com )

I see that I have a option on my "Manage Domain" under the main control panel for godaddy.com ( I see that there is a post here on that ) but how can I manage the nameservers?

If I can use this option, I can use my own nameservers for all my domains I want to host on my VPS

3. Enable IMAP/POP3 service on my VPS.

Anybody who have a VPS account on godaddy.com and don't have the IMAP/POP3 services enable? I press on the "green play" button, but nothing happens, it's only says: Please wait..Loading, and then nothing.

I hope somebody have some replies on this, and thank you for the help.

I had to cancel my VPS account with godaddy.com

They have VERY slow support, somtimes 36-48 hours to reply on tickets.

And the support is poor, first when I canceled my account after some days, I got a reply on one of my first tickets there I asked for help with my nameservers.

I did get replies on tickets AFTER i had canceled my ac**** and the account was gone. So they do not check the account when thay replies on tickets.

So if you need fast support, choose some other company than godaddy.com

I'm currently now with www.executiveasp.com and their support is fast and good. They fixed my namesevers issues the same day I got the VDS plan.

Go to godaddy to REGISTER your domains.

Go to TRUE hosting company to HOST them.

Good luck!

I, too, signed up for a GoDaddy virtual dedicated server account and was displeased with the support. I received more information from ServInt support BEFORE signing up for an account with them than I did as a paying customer at GoDaddy.

GoDaddy is not very well regarded for hosting around here, I'd definitely avoid them.

One good thing about godaddy.com and their VPS plan:

They do not have any money back guarantee, but they gave all my money back after I canceled my account.

But to bad they have so poor support.

They even state that they don't provide support for their VDS plans, only a little support.

You keep whining about their support, when they even state this. I called them on the phone many of times and my calls are answered within 4 mins or less. Support by email is slow and they state it takes 24 hours or more for a reply.
