Are You As DUMB As Me?

I was just wondering - does anyone else out there have active web hosting accounts that they aren't using - but still paying good money for?

I started to work on a site - I'm embarrassed to list the URL as it looks awful and unfinished - then I got busy and 'presto' I am paying for this unfinished appendage online. In essence, it's just a holding page on a full blown web hosting account.

I get the bills and I just keep saying to myself, "well...I'll just keep that account and finish the site soon". But I never finish it!! This has been going on for months!

Fortunately, the account is pretty cheap - just $8 per month.

Anyone else out there as dumb as me?

I don't know, I personally rent a few servers for some 'unfinished' sites - so about 250ish per project per month.

I guess I'm a bit more dumb than you.

I think every host has clients that had an idea that faded into the background.

I used to do this, pay $400 monthly for a dedicated server (gaming), but almost never had people playing on it.

Procrastination is the way of life for many (myself included).

What you need to do is get a good multi-domain account somewhere, that way you can host the sites that are actually functional and working, as well as the ones you are working on. You'll probably save yourself money in the long run too by consolidating them.

Right. I am personally using accounts at both DreamHost and Micfo that permit multiple domains.

And just think about all the domain names I've registered, and never used......!

I do that all the time.. actually right now.. there is one till may - thankfully i paid quarterly for that one.

Another one is used/harrased by friends and the other one's well.. the 'business' one.

Yep.. I don't think it's procrastination for me.. it's more like 'hrm! I wanna try out this host! or that host! it's cheap cool!'

Bad idea, but hey, what can ya do with an impulsive shopper..

About 6 months ago I outgrew an account and moved hosts. I am keeping it open so "someday" I can go make hard copies of emails.

I have a lot of that kind of sites. I think, thats a nice domainname, maybe i can use it in pr or for some kind of action.... luckely i can put them on my server. I guess there will be a lot of companys happy to let you buy a reseller-account :-) Or to the other people like you and i :-)

I consider it to be some kind of spell. I continually think about going to a witch and have it undone, but I keep saying to myself: I'll do it tomorrow.

I read reports from hosts who are very satisfied and consider the customers who never use their accounts, never need support, nor complain about anything, to be the perfect customers. So, instead of considering that you're dumb, consider yourself to be a perfect customer. It helps build self esteem!

ldcdc,

The best customers are the ones who use half of everything given to them, those who use nothing dissappear.
