Question

Hello,

I have a RAQ3 and i'm about the install chilisoft ASP, MySQL and PHP.

Wich order should I keep when installing?

My guess was ASP then MySQL and last PHP. Is this right?
Are there any problems I could encounter?

Any help is appriciated.
Thank you!

Ideally you should install PHP first as that's usually the easiest to install - just gunzip, untar and make/make install away. And it's finished.

MySQL isn't too hard, as you have some great online documentation to help you out - http://www.mysql.com

ChiliASP can be tricky to install, particularly on non-standard Linux configurations, so you may want to be careful and ask others in this forum who have done this installation.

Good luck.

Wink

Thanks for your fast reply.

Cobalt advises to instal MySQL before installing PHP so now I am confused but I had the same idea about what was easy to install.

We just revieved the cd from chilisoft and the first month we get free support from them so that is not going to be a problem then, but I really would like to install it myself on the RAQ3 before calling them for help.

So if anyone here has any experience with installing chilisoft ASP on a RAQ3 please reply.

Thank you in advance.

Domenico

Domenico,

Welcome aboard. (should have said that in my last post )

I really don't see much trouble with either installing PHP or MySQL first, as both shouldn't pose much of a problem. It was just that I installed PHP 4.0.3 first a few days ago before MySQL on my test server at home and I had no problems. So if Cobalt advises MySQL first, then go for it

The optimal installation would be MySQL, then PHP using the installed files by MySQL instead of it's own MySQL wrapper. This is why you need MySQL before PHP. (FYI)

Talking

Thanks! I'm getting right on it.

After all this is done I'm going to install ASP wich btw we bought for $795 and three days after we bought it (by credit card)we got an email from them telling that we could get an $300 discount if we buy it online :-(

Now we are hoping they are going to give us a the $300 refund ;-)

Anyways, this is way off topic. Sorry, I just wanted to let you know...
