Semi Private Servers

hello,

I was considering promoting semi dedicated servers... Servers that would be 90% yours as a dedicated server, and 10% shared.. any interest in this type of setup? Is it worth while? Or just not realistic ?

Rates would be a lot lower then dedicated solutions.

how are you going to allocate the resources between the 90% ownership and 10% share, so that the 10% won't use most of the resource?

who will manage the server?

what price range?

Hi, thanks for your reply.... the total amount of space the server has and transfer it can handle would be divided up.

I guess the price range for the semi would be around $100 - $150... Although your right, it would be a lot of monitoring even with the resources divided up ( to make sure the shared client don't over use the server)

Hi to explain more, I would probably manage the server fully for the client. However they would have more power and space, a lot more transfer rate. Basically the power to run heavy scripts, flash, movies, audio maybe... stuff like that without the huge cost of a dedicated server.

the problem with the $100 price tag is that people can get a good managed vps for about $50. Without worrying about other people over using resources.
