Question

when and what do you invest

hi, i got my dedicated server from theplanet last year at that time Helm was free with their promo. now, WHA is offering 50% of their cp (Helm) which come to $174 that's pretty good price.

some thing i don't like about helm is their doc and kb are pretty outdated. i've trouble getting rid of users and reseller account who no longer host with me and no one on helm forum know how to. i guess i either pay the mataince plan or figure this one out on my own.

i think it's a good investment to buy a copy right now since it's 50% off and i can use it on my next server or resell it (can i resell Helm ? if i got out of hosting biz or no need for the extra copy)

i don't really like to buy software because if i have to get out of biz then i'm stuck with a software that have no use to me. i like the idea of leasing but this deal is just too good to pass on....

i did a math on this "investment" $174 vs $25 per month x 12 month at theplanet = $300.

what do you guy think? what and how do you calucate when you come across software/hardware that you use for your business or how do you invest in software/hardware in your hosting business.

btw, i'm not sure if my question make any sense but please let me know what is not clear to you so i can word it better.

thank.

It doesn't make that much sense, but I think I basicly get what you're saying. You cannot resell it, I know that for sure, but I don't really get what you're saying about the investment???

He's saying that he has spent all this money on making a webhosting company.

If it goes under he can sell the domain, the artwork but not Helm.

It's like any business, risks are a part, so are investments.
Investments always = risk.

hi, yes, like Gigent said. i can sell everything but not the software that i'm stuck with. well, i did a research and ask several Helm reseller. i can transfer the software but if i need update/upgrade, i will have to purchase matiance plan. their current 50% off is very temping (kinda like any good DC offer a good deal on dedicated server but you don't need one now however the deal is very sweet, it make it hard to decide whether to invest in another server/software) did any of you ever face this kind of problem? you find a good legit deal that you can use in future business (like a very good price on a dedicated server or a piece of software) but you don't really need it now. do you buy it now for future plan or disregard it? does it make any sense?

Business is all about risks. We for example may buy 100 HELM Licences at a time to get a good price but there is not guarantee we will sell them all.

Same goes for any business investment you have to way up the pros and cons and take the risks.
