Getting customers

gamerfizz has been up and running for a little over a month now I've been advertising via adwords and banners on some gaming sites. Im getting the visits to my site now but no conversions to sales. Is there anything you would suggest to get more sales, and any suggestions for different advertising areas. Do special offers work? i've been offering a free ventrilo server with all my game servers, do you think this would attract people. Im a technical guy, not a sales guy so advetising is not my area of expertise!

The first few months are going to be hard. Try to get the word out personally, and try to stir up some buzz about your fizz

I would stay away from sponsorships and other freebe's, but good packaging isn't a bad idea. Free Ventrillo's, web hosting, and other things that may make it attractive. Nothing is free, but a well placed package will help.

Some people never make it, some people explode in gaming. I've never been able to pinpoint why exactly. I like our position, we get payed either way

consider optimizing your website for the search engines.
simple things like labeling your sites titles / meta description / logo alt tag with a format which incorporates your websites main keyword phrases can help.

then try and find some related directories a good starting point is at www.isedb.com and consider reciprocating links with other similar themed websites. (try to incoporate your main keyword phrase in the link back to yours).

Just from a designer point of view - I would rework how your present your information. Small text isn't bad, but if you have important information (ie services, prices) I would recommend jumping up to atleast an 11 or 12 font.

Next - make sure you word the information to catch your audiance. Make it catchy and not too technical. Keep in mind your main focus is gamers so use some terms that they might be familiar with and will show that you are an avid gamer as well.

Finally - run a few free game servers. If your ping and latency is top notch - they will quickly begin to fill up. Then you can occasionally post messages during that game about your service..

For Example...

"Need a Game Server that runs just like this one? Then check out - blah blah blah.com"

Remeber - Marketing is alot of times misunderstood by people looking to advertise. The over all idea is to brand your company / logo into the brains of your audiance. That way maybe months later when they are looking for a service you offer, your name will come to mind.

Hope this helps to some degree.
