Or if you have Firefox.....right-click, view page info, media tab, select the swf file and click "save as".

You can also import it if you want to edit it. Of course, you kinda need flash to do that.

Micromedia Flash: www.macromedia.com

That's what's used to make an swf, so you can just download theirs and import it to edit it, but it will remove the actions and sounds. You will only be left with the pics. You also can't import it if it's locked.

There are also other tools online that brute force the sounds and actions out of it if you can find them.

Hope that helps.

It removes the movie actions, clips, etc.
The actual stuff you see when you watch the swf movie will be there though.

If you got Opera, all SWF files are saved at C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\cache4 so you can easily find them by aligning files by type.

You can import an SWF movie in to flash but it will be one frame at a time. Proper editing isn't possible without the original FLA source file.

If the author has protected the SWF movie, then you're out of luck, they protected it for a reason!

You should check this app
http://www.sothink.com/flashdecompiler/
it claims in its website "The world's leading tool to catch, decompile, view, and extract Shockwave Flash movies (.swf and .exe files), especially convert your SWF to FLA. Using Sothink SWF Decompiler, you can find out almost everything in a Flash movie . . ."

you know what I think, the most appropriate way to download an swf file would be to contact the webmaster of the website where you want to download it from and ask him to send it to you via email. You know, there are copiright issues and the webmaster might not be that happy about you ripping his swfs from his pages.
