Co-location recommendation

Hello All,

Got a question if anyone can recommend a co-location company for UK. We are currently hosted with one already but feed up with there lag spikes. We have 7 servers all built into standard atx cases. We are looking for UK only. This is why I am not doing a quote... Even if I ask for UK servers only I get the US people who dont read it

We will be looking to start off with 7 servers to get co-located and we can then go from there..

Cheers

Chris

Who do you co-locate with current and at what datacentre??

Simply I don't want to reccomend people you already use but there are many hosts re-selling the various redbus datacentre in London Docklands. Also check out telehouse although neither will be perticually happy with atx cases I would have thought.

Poundhost don't mind atx-cases at there maidenhead datacentres, other

from a quick google
HSCGROUP will co-locate non-rack equipment (I suspect at a heafty suc-charge!)
I believe there is at least one datacentre in manchester you could again try a google.

OOoooooooo Bugga, Would perfer not to name and shame but the company is saying they have just put £120,000 into all new juniper routers and are getting in tempoary new routers to solve the issue before the new expensive routers come. TBH we have had 1 week of good service and the last 2 weeks have been well good at non-peak times lol but cause of the nature of our company it just get our customers kicking up a strop. The money they have invested is too little too late and with no compensation for the customers we have lost I feel that losing 8 servers at around £40 a pop is a bit of slap in the face.

The reason we have ATX cases is because our current data centre when we started said ATX would be fine.. few months down the line (now) we realise we should of got rack mounts.

We are a GSP so recommendations are welcome more than a google search (bad history of using a company via google).

Well I use poundhost and am happy with them, reccomended

I don't use anyone in redbus / telehouse but these are very good datacentre's by reputation. Work has many servers in a redbus cage, you could look into this possibility, If you need to colo 8 atx cases in a data centre who charge by the U then it's going to cost you a lot, as you will need at least 1 rack probably 2.

I would reccomend talking to Tim Anker at the Colocation exchange (http://www.colo-x.com/) Very helpful and can probably find you something for you needs.

Cheers
Jona

Yeah I had a feeling it was them, we to experienced ping spikes this last week and were comtemplating a move but it seems to have settled down now and we are willing to give them another shot.

But yeah if you want to move try one of the big London data centres.

You could also take a look at Coreix.net and Gyron.net. I have heard good things about both. Coreix looks very interresting.

Unfortuantly we lost business our end big time and tbh poundhost have done too little to late and staying with poundhost, the possibility of the issue coming back is just too much for our support team to deal with.

As what was said to my company: Great bunch of lads, support brillaint the network just let them down TBH got an email from them with concerning compensation with the trouble we have had and we cannot arguee.. would still recommend them mind

Ev1servers.net = US Hosting
Poundhost.co.uk = UK Hosting

We deal in game servers! Pings mean everything

It's true, even the best US servers are absolutly appauling for gaming machines due to the high pings.

Plus if it's true co-location he may want the option of 'visiting' his servers with out flying across the atlantic!!
