Advertising on Public Game Servers

I'm just trying to work out how good an idea this would be.

What I'm thinking of doing is hiring a public game server, putting primehosting.co.uk in the server's name and seeing if I can get some new signups from it.

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this before and if it has been successful.

Please post your experience and opinions.

When i was in the game server biz, (in the uk counter strike servers!)
I hired 2 servers, in each made 4 game servers. From experince i can say this only works if you hosting sells game servers, AND your server they play in is fast! And good popular maps!

But for personal hosting there is little chance.
Those type of users tend to be people between 12 - 20 and most don't have credit cards etc nor any need to make their own sites!
though some do like to have their own server, private or clan.
There are many sites which do offer free clan hosting and many do know about them!

Best of luck.

I'm not going to be selling game servers anytime in the near future, just currently offering shared and reseller hosting.

If I'm going to try advertising this way it's also going to cost me £35 a month, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to make that back.

I strongly doubt it!
as i said, there are plenty of free / sponsored clan hostings!

The actual chance of a game player to visit your site is about 1-5 a day, many who want to complain to you about an issue! or want a server! Or something free.

I don't think you Will get value for money by advertising like this!
