New Server host (Northern California)
As everyone knows, Managed.com servers suck. No doubt about it. I've been with them for about six months and i'm just about done with them, but I need help finding a new host. Any suggestions? I currently have an Amd Athlon 2800+ 1024mb RAM 120gb HD server with managed right now, and my new server will need the same.
Some of my needs are below:
-Reasonably cheap dedicated servers (Like managed.com, but with some actual support)
-Amd/intel server w/ cpu 2500+/2.6ghz or greater, 512 ram or greater, more than 4 IPs
-Located in California
Under 90/month would be great. Please help me!
Thanks in advance

It seems like Staminus would fit your requirements, and they're no where near the incompetence that many folks accuse of Managed.

A little too pricey? Your not going to find much better. It seems like you haven't learned your lesson!

You'll more often than not sacrifice something when you drop price. Think of price and service quality as inversely related where an increase in one will usually result in a decrease in the other.

Any alternatives to Staminus? They seem to have the best AMD server out of stock.

I would just wait around until they have one (or ask Matt here if he can procure one for you )

Were you looking for Northern California (like the subject said) or just California in general? I know there's a bunch of HE.net resellers in Fremont, can't think of one off the top of my head though... A 'Search' should do the trick however.

We ourselves are located in San Jose, and I can tell you there are a number of decent providers right here in our our building at Market Post Tower (55 S. Market).
Do a search on this board and you will come up with a few. Just be advised that for $90 /mo. you are not going to get much better than Managed.com.
Good luck.

I'd reccomend Atrivo if you're looking for AMD servers. They have great service and their pricing is reasonable as well.

Thats a pretty low price point, you're most likely not going to get anything good in that price range. As with most things, you get what you pay for. You could probably get cheap colo at $100/month and then put in a kick-butt server.

I dont need anything to be managed, I can do that myself. The only support I would need is if the server were to go down. (which managed likes to do) and to have a decent network (managed is seeming to slow down a bit)

I was just thinking more along the lines of the cheaper the monthly on the server, the crappier the server probably is, thus the likeliness to go down.
