Flatfile CMS & server load question

I am considering AJ-Fork - a modified and much improved CuteNews CMS script that uses flat-files not a MySQL database.
Would flat-files on a busy site vs mySQL cause any server or server load problems?

(I have used textpattern, wordpress & mambo on other sites but AJ-Fork/Cutenews seems best for this particular application.)

Speaking from very current experience, it seems that flat-file worked better for me, because the MySQL server is having large problems handling the huge loads on our site, at least during peak hours.

We have an active forum as well, though.
