I went in the direct route and IMHO although looking nice, it`s far to bright and hard going to look at.

Looks clean and orderly. Common design, but probably because it's intuitive and effective for this type of business.

Text is very light against that background. Could be easier to read.

Very good overall design. I think the text could be a little darker as it can be a little hard to read depending on the monitor brightness. If you did change the text color, I would take the entire site and make it a few shades darker all around. It may help for people who are a bit older and dont have the great eyesight as some I do love the overall color pallete of the site though, good job!
