firewalls, security stuff


Hi,
I set up my own linux box (fedora)- there's apache, DNS, php..I'm going to launch my website - but I realize that it's insecure right now..
Could you guys tell me what should I install as far as firewalls and all security stuff??
I'm dsorry for stupid question but, I'm newbie to all this things.
If there is anything alse that's missing, please let me know about it.

By default, iptables are already inbuilt in Fedora Core, which can serve as a Firewall. They are not that difficult to configure. You can learn more about IPTables at www.netfilter.org .

If you need a easy tutorial on this, look at www.iptablesrocks.org .

install a free firewall script called apf firewall, then another one called BFD.

apf simply create the iptable rules for your server. the BFD working with apf. BFD simply check your log files every 8min. and add the IP to block list, if there been any brute force attempt on the server.

It is working fine.

Yep, APF is a good way to go. The conf files for it provide an easy way to manage all that nasty iptables junk in one place. Its also nice to have the anti-DOS features that go with it, I don't think you will regret checking it out Good luck in your hunt!
