Hello, I'm currently having a difficulty managing my server to be up 24/7. For the pass couple of days my server seen to be down everyday. The weird thing is only happen at a certain time. Everyday at 4:00-5:00AM, my server is down.

I tried contacting my provider (Dialtoneinternet), in order for them to take a look at my problem they gonna charge me hourly rate, the hourly rate is $95! I know someone that's from dialtoneinternet have the similar problem, he end up in paying for the 4 hour technical supports. I don't want to pay that much money.

I was wondering if you guys can suggest me with some tips, where/how to solve the problem. Which logs files should I be looking into? If anyone is haven the similar problem with Dialtoneinternet, please e-mail me at mynh64@hotmail.com we can do an investigating in such obviously problem.

Please HELP

Unhappy

You'll want to look into the /var/log/messages
file

search for the exact time it went down, right after its rebooted you should see the startup logs, so maybe you'll see something crash or loop around or sometime before the server dies.

Also check to make sure your just not running the server out of ram.

Type the command free

if your using more than half of your swap file you need more ram fast, if your using just a little of the swap file then you should be fine.

unless your message file is only one file like they are on DI, VDI redhat6.2 splits them up. Having one 300mb message file to purge isnt fun
