something like ThePlanet

Hello,
some months ago I've purchased a fully managed server from ThePlanet.
They offer a great service and technical support but I have a big problem: I live in Italy and all traffic uses the SPRINTNET backbone and, very often, I get very high latency time and slow transfer rate.
The solution could be to purchase another server (equipped with same hardware, service and price!) that use another backbone, but it's really difficult to choose the right one! Any idea?
The server:
2 Dual Xeon 2.8GHz
1 GB RAM
2x80GB HD
2000GB BW
100Mb N.I.
Red Hat
CPanel/WHM
24/7 Customer support
Fully Managed.
$234 x month!

thanks in advance!
Max

Take a look at resellerworkz.com..

Fully Managed server for a wonderful price..

The problem is the bandwidth, they only provide 1000GB

I don't know of any providers that offer that because of the bandwidth.
Is 2000gb required?
Or is 1000gb enough?

With 1000gb you open your options to a lot more companies.

You'll be hardpressed to find something with that amount of bandwidth, that said check out ev1servers.net in this case - as they do provide enough bandwidth with their dual xeons to meet your requirements.

I've found their network also isn't that fast (and probably even worse for you as you're waaaay over there).

Where are your clients/users located?

Check out ezzi.net they offer servers with 2400GB bandwidth, but they aren't managed, but i would recommend that you get a server from a reseller not directly from them, that way you would get 4000GB, 2000in and 2000 out and some resellers manage the server, i'v seen some here on these boards.
Search and check out the dedicated and colo hosting offers forum.

Well it may be best to keep your server near your users for optimum speed.

Yeah - the same applies to canadian servers.
I was with tera-byte here in canada for a bit solely because they had decent bandwidth prices.

I'd have a ton of recommendations but completely managed for that price is a bit hard to do - espescially if you want to beat theplanet's network.

i dont think you can find a fully managed server with 2000GB of traffic for $234 a month
and by the way theplanet does not manage servers they only provide security updates and an ok support
plus they have one of the best networks so i recomand you find a server that neer your customers even if that means it will be far from you.

Not dedicated (shared) bandwith but I was able to push 10mbit/s 24h.

100Mbit unmetered service plan
Each server is connected via private (non-shared) 100Mbit port to our 3Gbit backbone which is shared by all servers that have subscribed to unmetered service plan. The bandwidth is NOT dedicated.
Servers on 100Mbit unmetered plan can expect average 3000GB-5000GB/monthly throughput on outbound transfer (from the server to the internet) and up to 30TB/monthly throughput on inbound transfer (from the internet to the server)

$149/month.

Their equipment are not the best but the support is nice I think they have level3 as primary but you'll have to count with cogent bandwith and some downtime.

If you're deadset on a US server, you should stick to the East Coast as you'll get better latency. There are a number of cheaper European hosts, such as ctn1.com and ovh.com. I'll leave the quality to cost comparison up to you.

I wouldn't know this except for the fact that I was just checking out FDC a few minutes ago, but they sell shared and dedicated unmetered bandwidth, dedicated being more of course.
