Hello

Are there companies which provide remote backup services for Web Servers? I have some dedicated servers with Company X as well as a couple of reseller plans with Company Y. In light of other forumer's data loss problems, I'm thinking of setting up an automatic remote backup service with a second company.

Any recommendations please? I'm not sure what data can back backed up automatically, or how it can be done.

for the dedicated servers you could use a seperate server for backups or gnax.net is supposed to be good do a search for them or other solutions

yeah, just get a cheap server with say managed.com and use rsync to do backups. it's pretty easy to setup. and will be well worth your time in case of disaster.

I checked it out just for curiosity.
Did I read the Gnax site correctly? You pay for a dedicated server plus the fee per GB of backup, or am I missing something?
If that's the case I don't really see the point. It would be cheaper to do the other option of getting a cheap server somewhere & backing up to it. If (unlike the source we use) nightly backups to a separate storage server are not available from the datacenter.
Just wondering, the page linked to was a bit confusing when you went from there to the "order" page to see how the prices actually worked out.
