Guns aren't bad. Virtually no one has ever died from a gun where a human wasn't involved. Either someone pulled the trigger, or someone was mishandling the gun and caused an accident. People who don't respect the power of a gun and what it can do are the ones to blame.
On a side note, the guy who got shot got what he deserved, IMHO.

If the guns weren't there in the first place then there would not be a trigger for the human to pull.

if there werent cars, people wouldnt get run over.
If there werent knives, people wouldnt get stabbed
If there werent people, then people wouldnt kill each other..
you dont see murder victims' families suuing the gun manafacturer right?
They sue the murderer.. the one who pulls the trigger.

There is no problem with responsible gun ownership.
I honestly don't think tighter gun control will cause the murder/crime rate do decrease significantly . You can't blame the work of the owner on the tool. The real problem lies in whatever drove someone to kill in the first place.
Edited to correct stupid spelling errors

In an odd way, and to sum up my thoughts very briefly, I view gun ownership like having kids (being a parent). I feel that every person should have a right to it, but unfortunately too many people don't handle them properly, and are irresponsible, which of course leads to bad things for everybody.

Then the kid grows up to be a dumb ***, goes out, buys a gun and shoots someone. I say we blame the parents and not the guns

Deserved but I can find infinite + articles where a gun was used to commit a murder and not self defense.

^Agree^ but . . .
Question Why use a gun for self defense? Why not a non-lethal weapon like tasers?
IMO: Only qualified hunters should rent guns (major background check). Law Enforcement should be up to the police; not individuals.
Ok. Flame me with your opinion!

Heh!
I've always found it odd that a person is required to take training, and pass a series of both written and real world tests to get a drivers license, and legally operate a motor vehicle, but... any irresponsible boob can bring a child into the world, or purchase a gun; either one legal without going thru any type of training, or meeting any minimum requirements.
Honestly, it's insane IMHO.
