Bandwidth differences

Can someone tell me the difference between premium bandwidth, non-premium bandwidth and this cognet bandwidth.

It seems to me that if you get a reseller plan with premium bandwidth which i would assume is high quality, and fast that you get a reasonible amount and it costs $1.50-$2.50 per gb etc.

Compared to a reseller plan that gives you crazy amount of bandwidht at that same price as the premium bandwidth reseller plan but is slower bandwidth.?

Hi Pod,

Id say the $1.00-$2.50/GB indicates alot more then quality bandwith - though, that is certainly one element.

WRT bandwith - it all comes down to packet loss - or lack thereof - this really differentiates "premium" bandwith.

Other factors to consider are viability of the service you are buying into. The price structure above generally indicates that a company is concerned with long term viability of thier business - they have factored in all costs and left themselves a reasonable margin for profit. This also means they do not need need to grossly oversell their services to be profitable - which ultimately should increase your chances of finding a viable, safe, long term partner.

Our experience with Cogent bandwidth is that is travels over highly saturated links normally, and as such is available at cheaper rate.

Due also perhaps from the fact that most unmetered bandwidth datacentre plans utilise Cogent.
