Have You Been Screwed By Siteleader.Com?
Greetings. I am a former employee of a company that many people in this form have talked about... siteleader.com.
Your posts reflect what I saw every day - constant fraud, intentional overbilling and yes, domain hijacking.
Anyone who would like assistance or to learn more about their illegal practices, contact me.

Hosting companies that take a turn for a worse certainly rolls my stomach. Thank you for confirming what many may have already suspected.

Weird question: how can we know that you worked for them, that you aren't a disgruntled (biased) employee or an upset customer trying to get back at them?

good question
I am a disgruntled former employee! And, if you dont believe me, google siteleader.com and get past the first 5-7 pages of their own self promotion efforts and you will find tons of forums from other cheated customers. Then, just for kicks, try to find the actual business. You can not even prove that it exists unless you research the criminal complaints against them.

I still don't believe you were an employee, workedforthem. None of your post proves that. All you're proving is that there are negative reviews of them out there.

workedforthem, I'm not saying that you didn't work for them. All I'm saying is that we can't know that for sure, so your posts can only be taken with a grain of salt, that's all.
Happy holidays!

A lot of employees get upset at their employers when they get fired and start talking bad about them. I'm not saying that Siteleader.Com its a good company or anything like that, but if you are a former employee and really have proves of what you are saying please show them, there is no way we can believe everything you say just because you claim you worked there.

This guy is absolutely right! I was a customer for 6 years, but they have become very, very bad.
I had my domain name with Network Solutions and email forwarding from Siteleader. I found out that Siteleader = Domainmiser, a reseller of domain registrar services from Enom. In June of this year, Siteleader hijacked the name from Network Solutions and transferred it to themselves. I had made the mistake of giving them administrator privileges 6 years ago and they turned on me this year. They also charged my credit card 3 months ahead of the renewal date, and then threatened to charge me an early cancellation fee of $295 when I complained and said I would dispute the charge with my credit card company. These people act unethically. The contact information they put into the domain name registration has a phone number that is disconnected. They do not respond to complaints, but instead threaten you. Since they are the administrators of my domain name, I am now powerless to counter their illegal and fraudulent acts. I had to get a lawyer, and that may not work for months if not years. Thank goodness I used American Express, who will now help me fight all the bogus charges too.

I'm not saying you didn't work for them, but how can you prove that you did?
It's nice to hear insider stories, but we have to know you're not making it all up...
Redpilot, have you tried filing a complaint with the BBB?

I am filing a complaint with ICANN. Plus I am initiating legal action consisting of filing a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office, the Office of Homeland Security for identity theft, and whatever other legal governing body I can find. I have engaged an attorney. I believe of all the people I am dealing with Enom is the one that's accountable, even though their legal department does not answer the phone. I am sending certified letters to all involved. The BBB just takes complaints. Plus, I don't believe it is possible to find a valid address for Siteleader to mail anything to.

If anyone has any information about Siteleader, I would like to know it. They are listed publicly in my Whois data as at 1000 Skokie Blvd, Ste 215, Wilmette, IL. The phone numbers given to Enom, Phone: +1.8478539280, Fax: +1.8478539343, have been disconnected. I tried calling them. The only number available is 847.501.4930, and that gives you a fax tone. They do not answer my complaints about why they transferred the domain registrar services without my permission to themselves, nor why they charged my credit card 3 months early for service renewal.
The Domainmiser site goes directly to Siteleader. No address is available on the site. Domainmiser is listed by Enom as a post office box, PO Box 977 in Glenview, IL.
I've looked on Google, and supposedly the president is Raul Heredia, since he was quoted in a press release. I will be addressing one last certified letter to him, if he is still the president.

Below is the text of my letter to Rual Heredia, the only name I could find at Siteleader. Note that I have left a few actual details public, specifically that I am discussing the domain name imregh.com. I have only obscured other personal information for reasons of privacy. I am most anxious that unethical behavior of this kind be exposed so that others are not subjected to the same abuse. There is no question here of a simple dispute. What they have already done amounts to a grave violation of ICANN policies.
Mr. Raul Heredia
Siteleader
1000 Skokie Blvd, Ste 215
Wilmette, IL 60091-1199
29 December 2004
Dear Mr. Heredia:
I am sending you this certified letter because all other attempts to resolve my problems with your organization have failed.
I have been a customer of Siteleader for 6 years, starting in 1998. I use email forwarding services from you, with an automatic renewal date of March 25 – see attached email from Siteleader verifying the renewal date. Siteleader charged my credit card for $49 on 2/24/2004 and again on 12/9/2004. I attempted to contact your support organization about this, but was simply told that I owed the money and that any attempt to reverse the charges would result in an additional fee of $295, and that any attempt to terminate the services would also result in the same fee.
The terms of service on your site relating to cancellation and fees were added subsequent to my engaging your services, and I was not notified about the changes. Nevertheless, since my renewal date is 3/23/2005, it is you who are violating those terms and I am giving more than 40 days notice of cancellation. Please reverse the charges to my American Express Card which were applied in error and do not attempt to charge me any more. I am giving you notice of termination for your services.
I am the owner of imregh.com, which I registered with Network Solutions in 1998 and have kept renewing since then. It has come to my attention that your technical staff changed my domain registrar from Network Solutions to Domainmiser and that there is a registrar lock on the account. I have attempted to contact Domainmiser at connectdomain@****************.com and have received no response. Domainmiser.com goes directly to Siteleader, so you have appropriated the domain name on June 16, 2004, without my permission, to your own organization. You are in contravention of a number of ICANN policies regarding domain name registration and I am copying them on this letter. I consider your actions to be identity theft, and will contact the Office of Homeland Security to report the matter and pursue Federal remedies if my complaints continue to be ignored.
My requests to remove the registrar lock and change the administrative and technical contacts back to me have been ignored, as have requests to return the domain registrar service to Network Solutions. I paid Network Solutions for 3 years worth of domain registration services on January 22, 2003, which expire 2/4/2006. You have illegally hijacked imregh.com from them and me. Please remove the registrar lock, return the domain registry to Network Solutions, and assign the administrative and technical contacts back to me with the following information:
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
My old address, 1818 Bryant Street, Palo Alto, CA 94301, is more than 2 years out of date, but I have been unable to change it because I am not the administrative contact. Similarly, I can’t change domain registrars for the same reason.
Should this letter not be a sufficient incentive for you to correct these problems, I have asked my attorney to take further action. Thank you for you immediate attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
