Problems with Stargate

Hello,

I'm desperately trying to transfer my domain to stargate.com but it doesn't work. The first time (a few days ago) everything worked fine with the form but then my actual registrar contacted me because stargate couldn't process the transfer - they had issues with their transfer function. I now tried it again and this time the form doesn't work and I get an odd error page. What the hell is going on? I'm now a bit confused about registering with them at all..

Catherine

We've used StargateInc.com for a few domains (to try them out) and yes, they are a little cheaper than the normal registerars, but definitely NOT WORTH the headache. The only thing that worked without giving us too many problems was registering the domains and if I'm not misstaking, that also did not work (gave error 404) when you had filled something out wrong and pressed submit from the 2nd page. Anyways, for 95% of our domains we've used OpenSRS (www.000domains.com and www.WebLaunching.net) and we have never had any problems with them, they've even helped us out with domains that were not even registered through them!

Very strange. I've just transferred a couple of domains to Stargate with no hitch. In fact, I really like them. I'll probably use them for some other names/transfers.

My big problem is that I also use directNIC and I really like them. They're more expensive but have excellent service. However, so far I don't see where Stargate lacks in either service or services.

I hope they don't have the same problems transferring away from them. Read the following post for more information on recent issues with Stargate.

Although not related to transfers, still something that can provide helpful information.

Good luck,

Listen to the fates

You tried to transfer to them.

Problems prevented that.

May have been the fates telling you something.

I have recently purchased quite a few domains and companies with domains at stargate. Can't transfer them away too fast.

Hello,

thanks a lot for your suggestions. I'll stay at directNIC.com. They have been superb in the 2 years I'm using their services - it was just that I wanted to save some money.

Thanks,
Catherine.

That was the same reason I left Dotster for Stargate. I heard a ton of good things about them and I'm always looking to save a few bucks. Now, less than a year later, I'll be getting away probably back to Dotster.

I'm very pleased with stargate.com. No problems at all. I have had more problems with sites such as amazon.com and government sites, than with stargate.

e-mail doesent work

The last domain I registered with them I had problums with their system using my e-mail address ( registered with Stargate )
I seems that if your e-mail domain was registered with them
and you use it as the Admin Contact it doesn't work for the password send function. Their answer was to use 2 e-mail addresses. Back in Nov 2001 I emailed and called for more then
3 weeks before I got hold of anyone to solve this problum.
I an glad it was not a mission critical domain.

Has anyone noticed if their support has improved lately.

Thanks JFWS
