Domain Lookup?

I don't understand this.

A website just came back up, and I've heard of this happening before, but basically what's going on is I am unable to get to it, but others are. Even when I did a WHOIS and typed H T T P : / /theipofthewebsite in the address bar (says I need 5 posts to write in URLs), it still won't go to it. It just says "Looking up Domain" or whatever and eventually says the operation is timed out.

However, others can get to the website. How do I get around this? Thanks.

If you are typing the IP address of the site then it's not really doing a DNS lookup.

Can you ping the IP address?

If it's really a DNS lookup then it's possible that your cache has not yet been updated. Give it 8 hours and it should be visible. (Up to 8 hours...usually)

If you can ping the IP address then all bets are off because you can get to the server that is responsible for the web site. At that point, it would seem that the web server hates you. In which case I'd just give up. (or keep digging, that;s a viable options also.)
