Hello,

My main server for my customers is under major DOS attacks.. I need opions to help me on this matter...

Please my customers are getting angry and of course they have the right to

yes they say they are working on the problem.. How can these people be tracked?? My server has been down for 12 hours..

I am so upset cause I am sittin here watching my business go down the drain

If you could track them, what would you do to them once you find them?

BTW did you patch your phpbb installations ? There was a recent security advisory in regards ot phpbb I believe.

WOW! I have the hostaforumfree.com website with about 80 phpbb websites??

You think that could be the source..

i have had 5 account cancellations already and I am sure moer to come..

This can ruin a business.. Why would poeple do this to me?

Can you track down which site these people are tarketing.. ??

i believe the phpbb issues would allow someone to enter your server and at worst delete stuff, or mount attacks on other people from there, but it wouldn't be the reason for a dos attack on the server itself.

Time and time again the failure of hosts during difficult times like this is to try and avoid their customers, keep them informed, talk to them all the time even if it's only to tell them that you have no new news, they'll appreciate it!

Is it a distributed attack or not?

Hopefully your NOC will address the issue and get your business back online quickly.

Unfortunately, there are too many 8 year olds with too much free time on their hands and stuff like this happens.

maybe move that site to another server.. ??

I dont understand.. I am not a multi million dollar company.. Why would I be a target.. I host around 300 people.. But this is ridiculous..

300 people can get angry REALLY FAST!!

and my entire business will go down the drain ..

Well this is a very dangerous industry. It can't all be good times. Either take the pain or quietly get out. Whining won't accomplish much.

Hosting forums that have angry 12 year old kids posting on them is a dangerous business. Sometimes, angry 12 year old kids do stupid things.

I've considered putting all of the websites that make kiddies mad on their own server. That way, the regular customers wouldn't get hurt.

Hopefully, you'll get some help from your DC.

You know its almost 24 hrs now.. How long do these attacks usally take??

What about this.. Take all my 30 or so Personal sites and put them on their own server?? That way if I get attacked again it will only bring down my sites.. With DOS attacks are the main targets usally the hosting sites themselves.??

I cannot have this happen again.. I have been operating for almost 2 years and no downtime.. My customers have come to expect that and they are very mad..
