That's quite funny you mention this. Our mail server was flooded a few days ago with spam from one of your servers, yet any attempt to contact your company was in vain.

I have full headers for every one of the 500+ e-mails we received, due to non-response from your company and the urgent nature of it, it was also reported to TP/SM.

Thanks for pointing that out.

However it doesn't take long for a company to reply to us and let us know they are dealing with it. If there are loads of people receiving this, they could setup an autoresponder to say that they are aware and dealing with it. 48 hours later now and still not a single e-mail from them about it.

Wullie,

Can I ask which email you sent it too because as far as we know we have replied to all trouble tickets that were submitted by effected companies and businesses.

We cannot use autoresponders as the amount of error messages we have received would have doubled, or maybe trippled.

Anyway, the thread is above if you want to continue with the mailbomb incident, however this thread is for subsonichosting.

By the way, SM and TP knew from the start what had happened as we had already reported it to them so they can deal with any complaints or reports from others.

We also explained where the mailbombs were found, and how we dealt with the situation.

You're extremely quick to jump to conclusions, read the forums before you jump to some of them.

I'm quick to jump to conclusions?

Was I incorrect that it came from their servers? No.

Did I jump to the conclusion that they sent the mail personally? No.

Did they get back to me about the e-mails I sent? No.

Should I read these forums on the offchance that a post may be made about our mail servers getting flooded? I'll let you decide that one.

Please don't be so ignorant to think that everyone who posts here reads every single thread posted, some of us don't actively monitor these forums and I have no reason to check here first to see if there is a thread about mail hitting our servers.

I'm not gonna make this a flame match, but you bet your rear that if you got spammed with 500 emails, most likely other hosts that frequent WHT got spammed too.. You did come here to whine about it did you not? Yes, you did. Case closed. Moving along.

If I came here to whine about it, I sure took my time since the e-mails were days ago.

I came here and opened the forums, where the first post I saw was from a company asking if anyone else had received spam from another hosting company.

We received 500+ e-mails from this company's servers and never got a reply to any contact attempt. We take action on the issue and prevent the attack. Where exactly does WHT come into it?

WHT does not come into any problems we have and I don't run here when I have a problem to see if others do as well. If my house is broken into, should I come onto WHT because as you say, you can bet my rear other hosts who frequent WHT are having the same problem?

I come onto WHT and the first post I see is from the company who's server attempted to flood ours saying a hosting company are spamming them with 10 e-mails. Should I say anything?

Since you can't see the logic here, let me point it out to you:

This poster did not assume that the spam is not from that hosting company, they have posted saying "Is anyone else constantly receiving spam from SubSonicHosting". To me this implies that the company itself is sending the spam.

When they don't consider that another party could be liable for 10 e-mails being sent, then you can be sure I will mention about a flood attempt from their servers that I did not receive any reply from them about.

I followed the post about Wapture and his company and if you take the time to read the post I think he dealt with it very well and took the time to explain to as many people as possible what had happened, why and what he had done to sort it and even mentions in the post that he had contacted every one he knew had been affected, in the end he did his best and a lot more than most other companies would have done.

If he did not reply to your mail I don't think he would have seen it, why would he have taken the time to reply to everyone except you.

The big difference here is that when you read the mails that were sent you could tell that it was a fake and this looks like a genuine spam mail from a person that is not old enough to even have a UK business bank account.

I never said he never dealt with the other hosts well, I mentioned that we never received anything about it. To me at the time of posting, we had not received any contact about the problem so I brought it to Wapture's attention as he mentioned the same problem on a smaller scale from another host.

I also never once jumped to the conclusion that it was Wapture's company sending the mail, I said it was sent from their servers. That's not the point however, I added the information Wapture asked for to the other thread, Wapture said he assumed everyone had been contacted and to me that was the end of it.

I then however get a reply from portal saying I should know to check WHT because obviously others must be having the same problem. I would still love to know why portal thinks WHT is so special I should have known a mail bomb hitting our server was related to here. Some people are just too ignorant to understand that not everyone checks WHT on a daily basis to read every thread or runs here when they have a problem on their server.
