Darrell was a nice guy. Pantera come up from the the bottom of local bands to reach national recognition. Panterea was a major force in forming the Metal scene in the DFW area. Sort of wierd not to think of Dimebag being around.

I didn't know anything about Darrell's new band, but Pantera was one the greatest metal bands of all time. What a tragic and useless death. RIP.

Thats a pretty crappy cop, took how many deaths before he shot him? He should have been ready as soon as the guy jumped on stage.
And thats why people invest in kevlar.

Sheesh... speak of that which you know, please.
The cop wasn't at the club when the shooting started. He arrived in response to a call from someone inside reporting gunshots being fired, came in the back door, and approached the stage area from there.
Sounds like he did a great job actually.

That Bouncer should have had him, you tackle someone from behind, and you can have them pinned in less then 5 seconds, especially with the weight bouncers carry.

He could have struggled with the bouncer and shot him with it as well.

Yeah, except that he shot the bouncer.
The guy jumped onstage, pulled a gun, and shot Darrell. The bouncer grabbed him, and was also shot.
Seems pretty ridiculous for people who weren't there and know little of what happened to be so critical of the actions that the people that were there took. The bouncer risked his life going against an armed man to try to protect other people. A lot of people, bouncer or not, would have just run out the door.

Its been all over the radio here today, this is truly a sad event. I have never been a hard rock fan, but I have had the pleasure of meeting the guys from Pantera when I lived in Arlington. There were many nights where we had a shot or a beer with one or two of the guys at Moose and Vinnie's years ago. My heart goes out to their families and I will keep following to see if there was any reason this guy did this. It is just horribly sad and makes me really glad that my wife and I don't go out to clubs anymore.
