Hi,
I am considering using zPanel as a free control panel for my free webspace site. What I would like to know is if any of you has used it and if it is any good. Also, if there are any other free alternatives.
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Matt

Try searching the Hosting Software and Control Panels forum. I looked and there's at least 5 or 6 threads about zPanel. Another free control panel is Web-CP.

I have actually taken a look at ZPanel and it seems quite good on a user end.
On the demo the Zpanel admin part isn't as good as you would expect it to be. I have never tried it so don't take my word for it..
It is also cheap.

I was alittle concerned about their tech support. After some searching (read: checking whois) I got a reply back saying the product is basically GPL.
Is web-cp still around? I thought it was basically a dead project

Nothing. I host on linux
Its just when it was presented as a commercial product. Support expectations vary. There is nothing worse than a useful but unsupported commercial software package, that can't be fixed due to lack of source code.

I agree with Virtualweb...
If you pay you expect the support to be brilliant whether the price is $39.99 or $100.00.

I never used zPanel. However, to truly assess it, I think you want to try for real rather than a demo...
Had a bit of a go with Web-CP some time ago, and it's not too bad...
