Before I say anything in great detail about my current problem with HostOnce, can anyone give me some advice or information as to how to contact them? I have gotten only auto-responses from them and have had problems since I opened the account on 2-1. Currently their Technical Support Center, such as it is, has been down for two days with no fix indicated in the near future. Before it went down, I posted five requests for help over a period of 3 days, but none of them was answered, either. I'm at my wits end as to how to contact them to give them a chance to solve the problem before I pack up and move on.

it seems everyone is having trouble contacting their hosts...hmmmmm....
and there is nothing more annoying than auto responders...
you'll probably have to call em, but if no one is home i would recommend that you move, unless of course they give good hosting...

callin this company is pretty hard, but their trouble ticket thing seems to be goin, request moving and cancelation, if things get really bad.
if you registered a domain with them, well from what i experiance and what people say, ya got a long road, but then again i was too cheap i got what i paid for (now happy with another server)

hostonce
If you have a personal site with not too much traffic and you are willing to wait between 4-20 days for a reply or for them to sort out their technical problems (which occur from time to time), then hostonce is alright. I have one such site hosted with them (more than 200megs in size but not much traffic, mostly family photographs) and I do not have very much to complain considering the price that I am paying. I have even installed a forum successfully without running into any difficulties.

For someone who is a reseller of FastHosts, HostOnce's advertising budget has always astounded me...

So far, the biggest problem that I am having with HostOnce is that I can't retrieve the email from my domain. I followed their instructions, double- and triple-checked my Outlook settings, and still no mail. I finally put the mail to forward, which it did for two days, but now even that has stopped working. I've been trying since 2-1 to get an answer from them on how to fix the problem, but all emails get only auto responses and the service call ticket program has been down for 3 days as of today. Anyone have a similar problem that is now fixed and can tell me how to correct it on my site?

Unlimited web space and unlimited bandwidth for $4.95 says it all...
I really don't understand anyone going for plans like this, as there are plenty of honest web hosts offering generous bandwidth and disk space allocations for under $10 a month (and most importantly, great support).

Unlimited bandwidth was not what convinced me to go with HostOnce, as I only recently understood what that was all about and know that it will not be a problem for me. What got my attention were the facts that they have been in business since 1997 (I wouldn't have to worry about them packing up and disappearing into the night on me) and their promise that I would not have to search for another host ever again.

Host Once IS a gimmick. Close your account there. I have heard other complaints too.

Hostonce is a nightmare! Unlimited bandwidth, right!....that company's going to be there tomorrow. It's like the old saying goes. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I tried them for 3 weeks and finally got out. They were terrible.

Lessons: Home Room Hosting 101
#1 Unlimited bandwidth = BAD
#2 $3-$4 range host plan with all the goodies and then some = BAD
#3 3 day wait for reply to email = Real BAD
Anything over 24 hours should raise the hair on the back of yo neck.
A new company might be able to offer you the world for ( 2 to 4 months ) a period of time. Then the accounts using all the resources catch up with them and everything heads down hill like a snow ball headed for ...... ummm well you get the idea, it's hot down there.....
