server stop response ...


hi ,


from a few days ... my server got very slow and the load avarage go high then i got no response to any service http ftp smtp .. and so on ... only ping work this happen every day within a certin time ....


after 15 min the server got working and the and the load avarage come down to normal then i got a message from cpanel to my mail


cppop on server.xxxxx.xxx failed

when i check my log .... i see

kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 314 (httpd).

and some time out of memory due to mysql ...

then

filelimits: Increasing file system limits succeeded




my server conf. dual xeon 1gb ram

running

WHM 9.9.8 cPanel 9.9.8-C159
RedHat 9 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0


any suggestion ...

The error message is exactly it: you're running out of memory.

Could you print "free -m" here for us? Thanks.

the error is kernel out of memory

First off, your swap is FULL. Do the following:

Add more ram, another 512MB would be sufficient. Next, turn swapoff and back on.

swapoff -a;swapon -a
