Host Gator Going Under?
Hello,
I read on a forum a few hours ago that Host Gator was having financial troubles and may go under. It also cites that they haven't made the announcement public yet. Can anyone validate this claim, or was it just some spoof/spam post? Hopefully it was a spoof, as they have a really good reputation.

This is a pretty irresponsible post, but not that shocking coming from a new member.
If you can't post any data to back up "what you found", then you're doing another except trying to attack another host.

And what answer did you get when you asked Hostgator themselves?
Don't believe in gossip -- go right to the source.

I am sorry for this. I am by no means attacking Host Gator. I have never used them before, so I could not judge them. Please accept my apologies.

If you don't use them and have never used them why would you make a post like this?
If you were so concerned why didn't you just contact them?

Based on my email correspondence with HostGator's owner I would say that most likely the opposite would be true: that they're doing very well financially.
Off topic: Nice to see you around Blue27.

Please link us to the exact url you read this at.
Posts like this are beyond ridiculous. This is the 2nd or 3rd time someone said we were going under on WHT due to financial problems. Last time was about a year ago? (Don’t remember)
We aren't going anywhere, we are extremely profitable, new staff has been brought on, we are expanding are advertising, our size is only growing etc. If we were going under advertising along with staff would be cut, and client base would be shrinking. Hostgator has 0 debts and plenty of money in the bank.

I think the thread should be deleted for wasting my time.

Yeap I agree, try not to post rumours, even after it is corrected, some damage has already been done. Really hope the Moderators can delete such threads. What if someone is searching for Host Gator and just skimmed through. They may get the wrong idea which would be very unfair for the company concerned.

I'd appreciate is this thread could be deleted as well. I sent a pm trying to find out where he read this without any response yet.

Posts like this happen fairly often, and they are never deleted. People need to be smart enough to seperate the truth from the gossip/rumors/whatever.
