Hi, I am posting this because I think that domain hijacking is a real threat that we all must keep in mind and hopefully won't have a direct experience of ourselves.
Chip Rosenthal, registrant of the domain name
www.unicom.com , successfully defended a case brought before the District Court of California by another party claiming breach of trademark. The judge dismissed the case on the on the 4th February. It is a victory for the time being because the judge dismissed the plaintiff's complaint on the grounds of the court not having personal juristiction over Mr Rosenthal (a Texan). But none the less, a victory. Although, not being familiar with US law in general or Californian law, I am not sure how or if the court makes orders for payment of the parties costs, of if Mr Rosenthal just has to swallow the money it has cost him to defend the action.
