There have been fewer than 35 reported since the building opened in 1931, although the latest was the second this year. In February, a man took a fatal leap from the 80th floor, minutes after filling out a job application.

"It doesn't happen that much," said a New York police official who, as a detective, investigated a suicide at the skyscraper in the early 1980s.

Just how much do they need then for action to be taken? 35 deaths is way too many to be scoffed at. I sure pity the family of these victims who saw such a flippant comment.

These are suicides, they will commit suicide one way or annother. Same issue as states passing anti-gun laws. The suicide method simply changes...
