shell session is closed after succesful login?

shell session is closed after succesful login?


I got a problem: shell session is closed after succesful login. (putty window closing) for some username. (I'm root). I tried
!userdel
and
!adduser
!passwd

but for this ONE SPECIFIC USERNAME I CANT login into shell (window closing witout any importat packet data logged). what can be the cause

What is the Linux version you are using ? Is iptables running in the server? Or may be your ISP IP address will be listed in the /etc/hosts.deny file. Contact the DC.

Can you login as root and su to that username then? ~

I doubt it has anything to do with the network since you are successfully login as root, but for that particular username you are having problem ~

Make sure the user has a shell set (ie /bin/bash) If its set to some bogus file it could cause that issue.

yes I can login by
su username
from root.
user shell is set to /bin/bash

still that one username remains frozen and NO ONE can log onto it by ssh client, because session is closed
