What type of hosting service are you currently a subscriber of?

Hello,
Please vote in this poll to show what type of hosting service you are currently a subscriber of. I have allowed multiple selections of the options so for example if you are a subscriber of a VDS and a dedicated server you may select both options on the poll. This poll is a part of some general market research our firm is conducting. Thank you to all participants

Do you lease a 100mbit hand off from Peer1? We're thinking about doing something similar with a pre-existing datacenter here and would be interested to hear details.

Is that costing around $10,000 a month or so?

We are here, but surely outnumbered just by statistical average. Shared users are most often here because they are looking for a host or having problems with their old host (thus the volumes of "flames")
A reseller account is where most people start hosting, a few bucks a month and no need for much experience, and the most likely to be here looking for information as they learn.
I would guess it's just a matter of statistical content of the "average visitor".
I still learn things now and again that are of value so it makes it worth my time to keep up with what's happening here. But by the time you have been hosting several years and moved up to the expense & effort of a dedicated compared to a $20 reseller account you probably don't have as many general questions here (when I have problems with something specific I go to that vendor's forums or support) as you do when you are a reseller starting out and trying to learn as much as possible about everything "in general".

One of the reasons I made this poll was to see if there was much of a market for VDS accounts. So far 5.88% of the total are VDS accounts, not a very big piece of the pie.

ask the same question in "Dedicated Server Forum". You'll see the difference.

We lease servers out of Peak10 that are burstable to 100Mbit. They cost a pretty penny per box but as Peak10's more than happy to provide serious infrastructure they're not 'that' expensive.

Of course on the downside it means we can't charge pennies per gigabyte like the RS $99 a month for everything guys... but we do just fine.

I should add we used to sing praises for NAC's datacenter but found ourselves capped at 10Mbit. Added to that was some serious mismanagement, and downright stupidity on the part of Pegasus drove us out around a year ago.
