    DNS Query

    G'day People

I have a quick question (may be dumb) but its better to ask some one who knows.

I was wondering if there's a service (a website perhaps), which can tell the DNS configuration. That is whether the DNS is authorative or not. For example some domain registrar only transfer the domain when the DNS (primary and secondary) are correctly configured and are authorative for a particular domain. I know such a service is provided by INA.COM.AU but it’s only for au domain names. Some provider (tracert.com, domainwhitepages etc) do offer similar service, but not quite what i am after.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks

BTW: This forum rocks, i am relatively new but i am already addicted to this. I just hope if this forum goes under new management they only work towards the development of the 'community' rather than for there self interest (and 'profiting' is not self interest, rather a cruel need )

    Thanks 21inchguns!!!

Though the url is quite usefull but not particularly for this instance. Here is a sample what i am after.

    http://www.ina.com.au/cgi-bin/nsccgi...adyhosting.com

If you follow the link above it give a listing whether dns is correct for domain name (airepair.com.au). I was after a similar service but for any domain (international) the above service is only good for .com.au.

    Thanks anyway, its much appreciated.

If Network Tools is slow (and it occasionally is), samspade.org can often dig up the same information more quickly.
