Finding Out Who The Web Host Is?

I have clients where I need to find out the website of their web host...

What is the best way to find out what their web hosts website is if they don't know? Some hosts have their website as:

myhost.com

But the clients nameservers are:

ns1.bighost.com

Thanks in advance.

Maybe run a whois on the nameserver domain. It's not all uncommon for a host to use a different domain for their nameservers....

We do.

well some times it happens like.. they have many servers and you can only register some 7 or 8 pairs of name servers... but if you exceed by that you have to host anoter domain and register nameservers by that

i think it will clear your question..

You can check with webhosting.info . Also try to find out the mailserver IP, most of the time its same and that helps to trace the real host.

Ping the website to get the server IP, visit the server IP and see if it takes you to the host company's site or cross reference it with the ip of the nameservers. If you want to know what datacenter they're in, go to arin.net and see who the IP belongs to.

If they are your clients why don't you just ask them who thier webhost is?

They have no idea who they're paying for hosting? What do they just give money to random companies in hopes that their hosting bill gets paid?

That's probably private dns nameserver? (their own nameserver directly to your host)
