I've just recently begun using flash, I decided I would throw together a little intro of sorts for my own web site.

The address to the intro is: http://www.spydertl.com/intro1.html

Turn up those speakers! Let me know what you think... be kind please ;-) No not really... any suggestions would be great

That's really nice work, technically, on the Flash intro Chris... and good-looking site. I like the monochrome look here, works well.

I can't help noting my own personal quirk, though, about these long, slow-loading Flash intro's.

It would be really interesting to track how many people click on "Skip Intro" and compare it to the total number of site visitors...

Thank you for taking the time to look it over, I agree. Large flash intros are really bad, I am giving my visitors the option to see it rather than forcing the intro on them when the come to the site each time.

I am working on making it load faster and faster....But as you know... you can only make it so small....

Again thank you for your comments.

Yeah, I'm well aware of the limits of down-sizing Flash, from endless tinkering with it -- though you can get some serious trim with persistence.

And I gotta admit... I really love bells 'n' whistles. I'm an addict. I like playing with 'em, and looking at 'em, and -- well, heck, obviously... I run a JAVA site... lol.

My main objection to them is on "working" sites, where I think they significantly reduce the effectiveness (read: profitability) of the sites by decimating the number of visitors who ever get to the real content.

I did, of course, note the prominent "Skip Intro" on your site, Chris... which I think is a darned good idea. More sites should be so thoughtful of their bandwidth-impaired visitors.

Yeah, I think it's quite a nice intro. Personally, I wouldn't use the spider graphic as part of the loading-movie. Or if I did, I'd maybe try to use masks to make the spider's legs grow or something. It's just that that spider graphic is your main kick in the intro movie, and using it in the loading movie steals some of its thunder. Great end-graphic, though; that looks sweet.

Lightbulb spider....

i love the site....
good use of colors...

problem: the spider twirling all over the place kind of made me sick cause it was very fast.

i am on a t1 so that might have had an effect, but i am not sure. technically speaking, i think it is well done, but from a human factors perspective, the swirling is not all that pleaseing to the human eye.

great site though

just my 2 cents

Many of us on T1's have had similar problems with insect-infested connections.

I believe this is why, er, RAID technology was invented...

etLux ??

not really sure what you meant from the above statement. i was just trying to give a little constructive feedback.

anyway...i believe it would be perfectly timed for a dial up....just not a direct t1.

All bad flash comments aside, they was awesome. I liked it. Maybe i am easliy amused. Did you make that with flash 4 or 5? I would also agree that seeing it 500 times would make me sick also.
