I'm attempting to download CentOS for an IBM PC of mine to give it a shot, but I'm not sure which version should I go for ...

x86_64 or i386?

p.s. Sorry, do you even call this the version? or ...?

i386 is the best version for your computer unless it has a 64-bit CPU (eg Opteron)
