First Impression With Surpasshosting

It sucks ***. Sorry my language, but it does. I'm trying to import my VBulletin database, and it times out. I posted on the forum asking for Telnet access so I can import it without timing the server out, and they don't offer it for shared hosting. One of the admins told me to upload it to my site and contact support and they will do it, so I did that. My forums have been closed for an hour and a half because support hasn't done anything, even though I set priority to urgent. Dreamhost gives quicker support at midnight -.-

Uhm.

A lot of hosts require you to upload large DB's via FTP so they can import it, if they fail to offer SSH access.

No offense, but if it's out of their office hours they might be closed, or at lunch...

You could easily chunk up the insert statements before you upload the file and only do pieces at a time to avoid hitting the php timeout...

I hope you don't plan on running a busy forum on surpass they'll have no problem shutting you off for resource usage.

A little more patience

You must also consider that this company has other customers as well, some of which might also have needs that are being met. I can understand your frustration, but an hour and a half is not that long. You should also consider a Dedicated solution if you want Telnet access.

I hope things improve.
