Is anyone else seeing significant packet loss coming from SM over the past week or so? I have 5 servers through them and each one is seeing some packet loss.

they're bandwidth is way overused. I think they're adding new lines at the end of this month.

SM/TP's bandwidth is currently near saturated on a number of lines.
As Incognito1 said, SM expects to have a huge number of new GigE lines up very (VERY) soon. I don't remember how many new lines, but I think it was 7 new gbit lines. They said they should be up by the end of october.
They're just waiting for their new Fiber equipment to arrive to turn up the lines, which are already installed.

They foresee the traffic growth, I wonder if they could still sustain at such low price.

I think they underestimated the amount of growth when they launced the Insomnia365.com Line of servers. They really should have had the bandwidth, in place, first.
Oh well... sometimes you get to learn from these types of screw ups.

Actualy some place it was said they are going to add 10 new Gbit lines, and that their total connectivity will be 22Gbit by end of October.
I'm not sure however if that number included their 2Gbit CogentCo lines that reside on separate network or not.
Anyway they indeed really need these new lines badly - with over 10Gbit sustained BW usage there is not much left at peak hours.

7 actually, 5 normal 2 cogent. They have 15gbit currently, adding the 7 will give them the 22gbit.

They actually have plans to install two 10gbit links, which are each 400mbit faster than an OC192 (OC192 is only 9.6gbit). Those are going to be installed sometime in 2005.

Who provisions T3's anymore... you must be talking about 3 T1's zip-tied together.

three T1s provisioned together would be 10% the speed of a T3. A T1 is 1.5mbit, about. A T3 is 45mbit, about.
