I've never used vpscolo, but I can tell from experience that you cannot go wrong with ServInt

Honestly, I don't think VPS is the solution for those who don't know how to manage linux. However, assuming you are dead set, I'm with Raine on this one (this doesn't happen often) you probably can't go wrong with either

I've used ServInt and they are quite good.

maybe its better to get a reseller plan if your starting out, but if your mind is set on a vps, i highly recommend powervps, they are friendly and fast in answering questions and support requests.

Servint VPS are fully managed meaning that if you wanted their NOC to do it for you they will - BUT if you wanted to get your hands dirty and do it yourself, then you have the bridge Captain
Their support is first class - I would highly recommend.

I do not think you can go wrong either way with VPSColo or Servint. I am with VPSColo and can tell you they really go out of their way for you, I have had great uptime and customer service. I have been with VPSColo for 9 months now.

I'm currently using Servint. I think you definitely purchase quality VPS with Servint. They've been around for over 9 years so they are very experienced in what they are doing. They also have a private forum for Servint customers that helps each other out with tutorials and answers. I highly recommend.

Thanks
As far as server or virtual server technology is concerned, I'd describe myself as an informed novice !

I needed a solution where I could host JSP-driven sites on VPS; which currently, my brilliant reseller-provider (Clook Net) doesn't provide.

So, a bolt-on from elsewhere was sought.

This forum helped me to short-list VPS providers.

Servint; Dinix; PowerVPS; and VPSColo.

I tried Dinix. However, their server my VPS was hosted was often over-stretched; and, as a result, service was sluggish.

The VPS provider I finally came to rest with impressed me with the speed and content of it's pre-sales dialogue and re-assurance of hand-holding availability ! I choose VPScolo.
Thus far I've needed help from VPScolo Support on many occasions.
Help comes quickly - very quickly; with an obvious willingness to assist me.
Boy are they good ! I can't wait for their new line of UK-based VPS'.

I'm still a VPS newbie of course, but with the quality of support I get, and my hunger to learn, perhaps I'll soon throw that 'novice' tag off.

You won't go far wrong with a VPS from my shortlist - which after all, is based on reccomendations from users on this very forum.

Good luck.

Was I just shocked!

I have been looking for another VPS provider (I like to diversify) and I read in these forums how good vpscolo was so I talked to them last night and they said I should pay now and my account would be setup in the am. So I did.

The next morning around 9:00 am my time I politely asked how long. I was told that they were a little behind and it would be ASAP. 5 hours later I asked again and was told M-F only for new accounts. So I asked for a refund (they promise a 30 day money back guarantee) - I got a "Ticket Closed" message.

So I filed a fraud complaint against them through PayPal.

I thought this was supposed to be a good company. I am very shocked at this treatment. I guess they are on their way out also.

As explained in the emails that we are doing server setups M-F and that any billing issues would be dealt with then as well. I apologised for the miscomunication and said refunds would be issued on Monday.
