Domain name DETAGGED

Hi all,
I use freeparking.co.uk to hold a lot of my domain names, and my main one has been out of action for the past 2 days. The IPSTAG is DETAGGED and it dont point to any nameservers any more.
Domain is not expired or anything.

Anyone know what this means and any clues as to how it would happen?

Needless to say I cant get a hold of them to get it sorted out either, how do I go about sorting this out?

Thanks
Stew

Contact Nominet (see http://www.nic.uk/index.html for contact info) who should be able to help.

You should be able to take the domain into another Nominet member's system (eg 123reg.co.uk or ukreg.com) but Nominet will need to re-tag it with the new Nominet member's IPS Tag.

Do you have the registration certificate -- or can otherwise prove the domain is registered to you?

thanks, I contacted Nominet, no response yet, but I emailed a load of folk from Fibranet (parent company) and have a response saying that the Nominet 'retag' will take place within 12 hours.

As soon as it does, that domain name is flyin over to 123reg!!!!

Thanks for the help
Stew

Hello
A domain is normally detagged because their has been an unresolved payment issue.
Because .uk domains automatically renew its the only way a registrar can prevent being billed for the renewal.

well they told me they have re-submitted the tag thingy, but still no joy. Basically they messed it right up, and I'm gonna have to get Nominet to sort it out.

Aaargh

Me 2

I have domains with freeparking.co.uk also and I am desperately searching for another service.

In December they took payment for renewals and never renewed them (waiting for refund) and now two domains have dissapeared off my manager, one was live!!

Still waiting for an email response after 3 days,.

I`m gonna get my domains and run from them like hell..... then I`ll be after a full refund.

Anyone reccomend a similar UK service?

Thanks

I've now had 3 emails confirming that my domain name is retagged with Nominet (all from Freeparking) and it still has not been.
NOW they are asking for £17.50 to retag for me, although I renewed the domain name through them in October/November time.
What is this then, ransom????

I'm shifting everything to 123Reg.co.uk , some colleagues have been using them for a long time, with no problems at all.
Also I'm gonna use zoneedit.com for the nameservers, then I can move sites/servers dead quick.

Man, domain name system is a joke, dunno how these guys get away with it.

register the domains with 123reg then use the zonedit nameservers. That way you can point the domain name to any ip address you like, and it kicks in immediately
Just a thought, if anyone has any other suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Rite, I know this topic is a little old, but a little advice for you peoples.

Registrars, once they have entered the DETAGGED IPS tag into the domain no longer have control/authority of the domain, thus they have no way of retagging the domain.

Only nominet can retag the domain and they require the original registrant to contact them with signed proof/documentation and a covering note to say what tag you would like on the domain.

Dont belive them if they say there gonna fix it for you!
