Looking for a Web-based Email system
I have an online community and i want to offer free email addresses to my guest. I want to find a script that i can install that allows them to setup their own name and login from the web. I also want something where i can customize the look just a tad. Thanks.

If you are looking for script based, try
www.hivemail.com
For more stable mail service, use
www.qmail.org

Okay yeah i was meaning a script based one ..but one thats free or pretty cheap.

SquirrelMail ( http://www.squirrelmail.org/) and Horde IMP ( http://www.horde.org/) are both very popular web mail clients. But these are just mail clients, they have to make a connection to a POP or IMAP mail server. If you want to provide @yourdomain accounts, you'll need both a web mail client and mail server set up. A lot depends on if you're in a shared or dedicated hosting environment and if you want to automate the signup process or not.

checked out the b1gmail script. It looks really good. Yes i have a dedicated server to run this all off of. Thanks all..if there are any other sugestons let me know

cedwards, you don't need a dedicated server to run b1gmail script. But when you get lot of users, you have to think about dedicated server as mail service will take lot of space.

I'd suggest Horde as well, the newer (CVS) versions definetly support signup.

SquirrelMail is very good.
But if you're looking for something that runs like a yahoo.com where it is all webbased text I'd suggest b1gmail script.

yeah i didnt know horde supported that.....and yeah im baisclally looking for a yahoo, hotmail, gmail ect type of thing...where they check their mail online....they can sign up for free without me having to go through and manually create them one...one where i can customize the template to fit my site....
Its a christian forum... http://www.christianteenforums.com so im looking for something to run as a free service to the members...aslo something free on my end because obviously i dont have alot of money coming in off the site.

okay im going to go with b1g but the problem is..its in german and for some reason i cant get any of these translation sites to translate...can someoen help me with getting the install directions to work?

So if anyone here understands that...let me know..i understand like it wants me to chmod some stuff.but the rest im at a loss what it says.
also if anyone can goto their site and tell me whats the deal with getting version 6. www.b1gmail.info . Im interested from looking at screenshots...in getting that latest one..but i cant read their site so i cant find out how to get it. Help Please!!!

i too recommend squirrelmail, though i thought i'd throw this in since you seem like you may want something totally automated:
www.everyone.net -> it is web-based and has ads (if you go the free, sponsored package) but is totally automated and outsourced so you don't have to do a thing
