Stay Away From Servermatrix

It is impossible to cancel their servers. They are a bunch of thieves. I put in a ticket that said I wanted to cancel my server, and they would not accept it because it wasn't a special accounting cancelation ticket. I never recieved any notice that it would not cancel my server.

If i logged into their system, under accounting, and then cancelation request, it said, "Your cancellation will take effect 10/01/2004". Now it says "Your cancellation will take effect 11/01/200".

I called up the lady and asked her exactly how to cancel, and she said, "i don't know, i can't see what you see". They are a bunch of theives. You do not want to deal with these people.

yes this happened to me last week before the 1st of Oct. I found a way around it though. I had put my server on my banks debit card...what I found out from previous months I have cancelled is that you can just transfer money out of that account so that cannot take the amount you are billed for.

Oct 1st they tried to take out $249 for the unmetered server and I had left around $60 in that checking so they cannot bill be. Eventually they will give up and just shut the server off.

So that is the way to get around that I love playing billing god. Let me know if you need any help.

I have inspected your account and do not see any cancellation ticket in your profile. The only ticket in refrence to your server within the last 6 months is "ACCOUNTING REQUEST (C14426): i updated my account with a credit card"

We have a policy that requires customers to utilize the cancellation request form in Orbit. The cancellation request must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the end of the billing cycle to take place at the end of that month. This is a pretty simple process and if you follow those instructions we will be happy to cancel your server.

We have no problem cancelling your server but you must be very clear in what you need done. The only cancellation ticket we show for you is the one that was opened today after you spoke with Accounting. We are pretty easy to work with and will be happy to work with you on any issue, but keep in mind we have company policies to follow. These policies are listed in our terms and conditions on our website and the customer must approve these before any order can be placed.

Now down to the good will of the customer. I will cancel this server effective today. This means we will pull the server off-line as of right now (within an hour or two) and we will charge you for the full 4 days of this month.

See we are pretty easy to work with if you ask in a polite manner. We are not thieves, just a company who has a cancellation policy that was not followed.

Thank You and hope you have luck with your new host. Let us know if we can be of assistance to you in the future.

Perhaps you should have read their Terms of Service:

"Service Cancellations must be submitted using the cancellation form inside Orbit (https://orbit.theplanet.com) at least 7 days before the end of the month"

I've purchased and cancelled several servers with SM and never had any trouble when following their proceedures.

You don't believe there is something deceptive in telling me: "Your cancellation will take effect 10/01/2004" when it didn't?

When did you log in and it said 10/1?

I just recieved an email confirmation that they will cancel my server now and only charge me for 4 days.

It is a shame, since I tried to cancel Friday, but theywent away till monday, but the server was, in fact operational for those 4 days. It is also a shame I need to post to this forum to get results.

But I appreciate their attempt to resolve this fairly now.

Well that would explain why it said they would cancel 10/1. Can't tell you why the ticket didn't go through if you submitted one. Anyway, glad to see you got results. Next time you might try calling and speaking to a "manager" to get your issue resolved.

Friday was not 7 days, as spelled out in the TOC/AUP.

Cancelled servers are frequently "operational" past the cancel dates. I have experienced that in several datacenters.

IMHO, that was very kind of them to let you cancel and only charge those 4 days.

Sooooooo... all that to say this: Avoid ServerMatrix because they made a billing mistake?

Give me a break.
