jailshell question

As you'll note from my question I'm new to servers.

Re: jailshell

a) If i SSH as root obviously I can access all files/directories

however

b) If i log in as a jailshell user I can't access even my own
files/directories

c) Gave same user a "non jailshell" access (not wheel) and still can't access even his own files/directories

Short version how do I give access to users for their own files only?

Cpanel 9/ WHM

I don't understand fully?

I would suggest checking permissions as root, and when in doubt, backup the site, remove it, recreate the user, and manually move everything back.
