eMail Hosting

I have a few email accounts with DNSMadeEasy.com. Here is a link where you can see all the details:

50 POP3 / IMAP / Webmail accounts
275 MB of total quota
50 Forwarding Accounts
Ability to create catchall forward / account.
10 Autoresponders / Mail Robots
5 GB of monthly transfer
Free Backup Mail services for your primary domain.
Use of webmail
Free extra account for postmaster.
Email for one domain.

You can add domain aliases for as little at $29.95 for 10 additional domains!

Prices:
$28.95 per year

The only drawback is that they don't have effective anti-spam and ani-virus filters.

Are there any other companies offering similar rates (mabe a little higher) but who also provide effective anit-spam and anti-virus filtering?

I use and recommend www.mailsnare.net and have also used www.fastmail.fm - both are inexpensive, both offer excellent antispam/av.

Everything sounds good except the price! If you get a normal hosting account, you'll get basically the same thing plus a lot more. you could choose to use or not use your hosting account at all.

I'm sure there are people out there who could offer you the same thing that that company is offering you. <<< Removed! >>>

Anyways, not here to promote myself. Just telling you that you're being ripped off!!! EXPENSIVE is the big word...
Uh, no. I guess you're not terribly familiar with the outsourced email market?

http://www.simplicato.com/business_email_hosting/
http://www.mailsnare.net/snare/index.php
http://enterprisemail.quexion.com/pricing.asp
http://www.dnsmadeeasy.com/s0306/prod/impopw.html

That's actually quite a competetive price, for what he's getting.

Yes, there are. There's quite a large market for outsourced email hosting... and the vast majority of the providers aren't running a single MX and their only two DNS servers on one machine.

Indeed, you're clearly a master of all things email.

So what do you think the best freemail servers are? We still use hotmail for our backup mail etc.

Erk. "Best", "free", and "backup"? Seems like a dangerous combination.

I haven't looked at a free email site in years. Judging from the comments of our customers, you often get what you pay for, at least with them. Some people lately seem to swear by Gmail... don't really know.

If you want a breakdown of the various outsourced email options, try this page. It is a very informative source and explains the shift away from free email hosting. I looked at my earlier post, I didn't mean to imply that I wasn't recommending fastmail, if I weren't I wouldn't mention them. If I were an affiliate, I wouldn't mention them here either, by the way in case any mods read this... <<< Scared by modly powers exhibited above! >>>

Personally, I don't see how the buck a month FM charges for a perfectly reasonable account can be considered expensive.
