Kernel can't initialize USB Hard Disk ..

Hello All,
I have a RH9.0 installed on server with IDE drive .Now when I want to install or add the new USB Hard Disk to it,kernel stops booting at a particular point saying that:
## Initializing USB drive ...
And dosen't go ahead ???
What can I do for connecting the this Hard Disk to UB controller and to work properly?
Dose that mean that RH 9 couldn't find the proper USB driver for HD?
Any suggestions?

Hello all,
Kernel version is 2.4.20-8 and device Iomega Scsi drive (250GB),
RH 7.3 .The device supports USB 1.1/2.0 standards
Dose RH 7.3 supports USB ?or kernel 2.4.20-8?.I think there were no USB devices when RH 7.3 was popular.. What should i do?
Actually I can't show logs because I don't have shell access to clients PC.
Thank you.
