Do NOT, I repeat do NOT use either of those websites.
In the ToS it states that 100% of forum hosting is 100% free.
This is a LIE.

Craig Bass, the owner, deleted my PHPBB forums without a good reason, then said if I don't pay him $30, I don't get them back!

Ouch, I'd suggest looking elsewhere for hosting, and maybe contacting his upstream with the .txt file of the conversation.

If needs be, I'll host you free of charge to let you get going again.

The offensive reply in the attatchment, makes me think, you were NOT chatting with Graig Bass.

First verify the other pary was indeed Graig Bass and then come back here and post your comments.

I've seen many cases of chat session hijacking or email impersonation.

Yeah, I am thinking the same thing.

Don't know anyone who would say stuff like that in a logged chat session.

If that was really him then by posting here im sure you jsut saved a few 100 or more ppl a large issue later on. I really hate crooks like that.....

I doubt he knew it was being logged. I think this Craig Bass, if it was him, is clearly a bigot.

At the same time though, it was a free service. Although I think what he is doing is disgusting, you should have also known. You should have made a DB backup periodically, and if your board go to the point where it was getting big, you should have found paid hosting.

If you cannot afford paid hosting, you should make some money. Many registrars sell hosting for as little as $1.99 a month!

Ok, I didn't realise this post was here. Now I have seen it, let me tell you what actually happened.

"Sparky2002b" contacted me and asked me for a database backup for his FREE board on board-host.org. Board-Host.org has NOTHING to do with my professional hosting solutions at subsonicsolutions.com, it isn't even hosted by it, they are two seporate companies. Anyway, he asked for his database backup, I said this costs $30 (I charge to keep board-host.org running), anyway, he refused to pay. I though that was the last of this, aparently not, he contacted one of my staff members, Jeff and was very rude to him and swore at him several times when Jeff refused his database backup without payment. Jeff told me about this and just at this time, the people I use for hosting board-host.org, WebSpaceUK, James contacted me from WebSpaceUK and tried to get it off him as he has root access, him being a professional hosting company refused and told me about it.

After hearing all this I deleted his forum (for the things listed above) and retained his database backup for future referance. If you want proof of this, just PM Jeff on board-host.org forums or ask James from WebSpaceUK on WebSpaceUK.com forums.

I have since sold Board-Host.org as n00bs like Sparky have put me off trying to help newbies to the web by offering free boards.

Oh, and the txt file he posted is somthing he has written himself, not what the convo actually was, as many of you know, I am not racist and never will be. Posting false information is called slander and is very much illigal, WHT admins should consider removing it. I have the convo on file if anyone wants it.

. Please post the chat logs, so that people doing a search in the future will have both sides to this story.

Craigbrass dont let a jealous underpriviliged libel inducing time waster put you off providing a usefull service to people who cant afford it.

I used to run a small yabb hosting service and it was successfull, however yabb is a poorly written forum with a flatfile based database so after about 200 forums it was impossible to run.

Sparky2002b: You do not derseve anything for free. If you want ownership of your data, do what Craig (who is in fact younger than you) has done and sort it out yourself.

People who expect everything for free and then have temper tantrums when they dont get it do my head in.
