I have the option of Flood Guard: (DDOS Mitigation) as a addition to a server that I'm looking to purchase for a extra charge of $10 /m, is the Flood Protection worth it? Or is it not common enough to have on my side, I will mainly be using the server for web hosting.

To avoid some penalties from your hosting provider if your website was under ddos attack, it is better to buy this protection.

Using Floodguard to stop DDoS is much like trying to ward off an African Locust invasion with a can of bug spray.

I think that has been made pretty clear, to everyone, already.
I think you have to look at is as an insurance policy. If I remember correctly, if you DO have Floodguard and you get hit with a DDoS, you are not charged the excess bandwidth.
If you do NOT have it, you are charged.

Negative, you are still charged with overages due to ddos. This was directly from their sales department.

Its just a marketing thing. They should invest in something worth while if they are going to offer "ddos" protection. Unlucky customers fall into this trap often.

Haha! Maybe with lot of Can!
I saw South park Yesterday and was trying to kill his friend with a bat, but the Bat was plastic and he said "Stay Quiet its a plastic bat, it will take a while to kill you"
