suggested instant messaging/chat

Hi!

I wanted to have a chat support for our clients to really get what they want. I will do this if I know that they are online.

I think Bravenet's human click is fine. But, I wanted to go something like ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, etc.

Which of these instant messaging/chat do you like best? Can you give an assessment for me to decide on?

Thanks.

I'd say AOL Instant Messenger because so many people have it, and it's also offically available for Macintosh and Linux. IRC might be another option if you frequently use it.

icq full of porn spam and security flaws

msn too annoying with all the extra stuff it does like opens everytime you open outlook

i by far like aim the best

there is also a program called trillian

that combines all 3 of those into one instant messaging

so basically you could use that and offer all 3 ways for you to be contacted i cant rmember the site tho

trillian is the name of hte program anyone remember the site for it ?

For Trillian see: http://www.trillian.cc/

I stopped using their old version, but just saw that they have a new one out, so I'm off to check it out

Later,
Douglas

I have been thinking about using IM for online support. But in my opinion it doesn't scale, and you can't make it to scale. If you got like 10000 clients, you can't assign more customer support staff without using more than one online ID. With humanclick (or alternatives) you can have more than one support staff with only one ID, and support requests will be automatically distributed to your support staffs.
