Powervps Fusion With Defender Hosting !

Dear David Esquivel,

As you know PowerVPS has a long track record in VPS technology and values partnerships that can
help build upon our ability to offer great packages and service at fantastic value. In an
important move to develop PowerVPS further we have agreed today to a merger with Defender
Technologies Group LLC, a full service hosting provider from Virginia, USA.

These are exciting times for PowerVPS customers with the added security that everything is
'business as usual'. You can count on continued top class support and packages at the same great
prices. The PowerVPS brand name will stay the same, as will your VPS package and the support
center. There will be a few new faces around but these will add and compliment the service you
have always received and expected rather than change it. There is no change of datacenter or
troublesome migration involved. Soon, as a PowerVPS customer, you will be able to order VPS' in
Virginia and London as well as our present New Jersey location.

Does this mean changes for you? The answer is no. Your package, pricing, server location and
support will stay exactly as it is and you will still be dealing with PowerVPS.

Defender already provide an impressive range of hosting solutions from VPS to managed Linux
clusters, hosted out of Equinix IBX Centers in San Jose, Virginia and Chicago. Like PowerVPS,
Defender, have a great reputation within the hosting community, their 24/7 support mirrors
PowerVPS in its commitment to customer service. Their partnerships with Cpanel, Directadmin and
Plesk have helped them to build a strong and growing business.

Defender has over 7GIG worth of capacity in Virginia BGP'd with providers like nlayer, BTN,
Aleron, ServerCentral and NAC. Their Network is built for low-latency and speed to deliver
streaming video ads for the likes of AOL, Yahoo Movies and Weather.com and hosting some of the
top gaming companies, as well as some of the top technical sites like techreport.com.

Do you need to do anything? No, you can carry on as normal, there will be no interruptions or
changes in your service unless you specifically request them. At present we are working with
Defender in a transitional phase, this phase completes on October 4th 2004 and from that day
forward the two companies will be working together officially.

If you have any questions regarding this then please let me know, you can contact me directly by
sending an email to admin@powervps.com

Best Regards

Gary Reid

I am beginning to think this is a joke. For the last couple of days in another thread “ServINT or PowerVPS” http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1

Boxhost along with a Charles from defenderhosting has been kicking the crap out of ServInt and talking about how great PowerVPS is. I am a ServInt client and was starting to take interest in some of the things defenderhosting said about ServInt and now I see that all along he was whoring for PowerVPS. He has now showed that he has no credibility and next we will find out that Boxhost is a Vice president of Power VPS. This is really sad for people like me who go to this forum to learn from legitimate people about hosting and servers.
What am I going to find out next on this forum, Santa Claus doesn’t exist?

Boxhost I did not intend to offend you. I apologize to you. I actually think you like the company that your VPS is with and you are just showing your support.

I was offended by defendhosting commenting in that thread but never mentioned that they were in negotiations with PowerVPS. I am sure that many other people who where trying to gain valuable information on the VPSs may also have been offended. I thought I was gaining good information from an independent source only to have the rug pulled out from under me. I may me just thinned skin but I have been following those threads on VPS benchmarks and thought I was get correct information now I must erase from my mind some of the propaganda that was inserted into them.

Joe, I think this is a bit unfair. No one from DTG was kicking the "crap" out of anyone, especially ServInt. Reed is very well respected and runs an awesome company over at ServInt, and most times I admire what he has built.

That doesn't mean people have to agree with him/ServInt 100% of the time and cannot engage in a technical discussion. No where did Charles or I try and pump up PowerVPS or even our own company, we simply engaged in a technical discussion and put the facts on the table, in a public forum and not hidden in some private forum.

Trust me, there are dozens of very good VPS providers out there, yes, ServInt is one of them, but not the only one.

I've been around here a long time (since 2001), and have been watching the dynamics as of late. It appears that when someone has something good to say about a competitor to ServInt they must be a "cheerleader" and are not credible.

But when someone posts something negative about ServInt, and the referral threads from ServInt’s private forums start showing up here with the many posts about the good things ServInt does, no one jumps in and calls those folks cheerleaders and unbelievable, instead they are happy ServInt customers, as it should be.

The bottom line is this industry is hyper-competitive and growing very rapidly and there is certainly room for quality providers, providing customers pricing and performance choices.

And no, boxhosts is not an employee of DTG or PowerVPS. As far as I know he is just a happy PowerVPS customer, I don't see any harm in that.

Easy now. Please note that I was taking the time to participate in a technical discussion to make sure false information is not being spread. Also note those are the only types of contributions I make to threads here. This is a professional and respectable way of contributing, not getting into stupid pissing contents. I'm offended you take that as "whoring for PowerVPS". I prefer to spend my time keeping my customers happy, not trying to sell myself to servint customers.

But I will ask - how come it's cheerleading when anyone else has positive things to say about a hosting company, but no-one complains that the thread is dominated by servint customers cheerleading for them?

And yes, Santa won't be visiting you this year if you are naughty

The problem is not what you said but what you did not say. Your signature says that you are representing Defender Hosting in a thread designed to talk about two other VPS companies. You looked to me as legitimate third party giving an honest assessment of facts and I was weighing those facts in my judgment of the two companies.
Then to find out that at that time you were obviously in negotiations with on of the parties takes away you’re standing as an independent advisor.
You could have made the same statements and prefaced the fact with a statement showing your bias. Many people in that thread stated who they where with. You decided not to disclose your allegiances.

I'm sorry you see it that way. Re-read my posts. I did not take sides or make judgements of either company (at least I tried not to), but tried to explain that whatever servint is doing, if they are indeed doing it, is not the for the reasons stated as it is not true. I was and still am representing Defender Hosting, and if anything you can accuse me of selling Defender Hosting, but that was and currently still is my only reference point when discussing VPS UBCs.

Again, I'm sorry you see it that way, but I believe I was being objective, and still am, and will continue to be. That thread could have been between *any* VPS providers, including Defender Hosting and my response would have been no different. Back to work.
